Lanarkshire AXIS Project - 

Axis is an intensive service for young people living within Lanarkshire aged 16-18 years old, who are affected by their own or someone else's substance misuse and other issues. The young person's needs and behaviours will be considered as high tariff. The young person will be affected by their own, or others substance misuse, have complex needs e.g issues related to physical, environmental, emotional and mental health needs -

In this way, sexual health is an important and integral part of overall health. When we are sexually healthy we make the best decisions for ourselves with regard to our sexual partners and sexual practice.

For people who choose to be sexually active, sex can be enjoyable, safe and should be based on mutual respect and agreement.

NHS Sexual Health Lanarkshire :provides advice and information on a wide range of sexual health topics. The website also provides a range of articles on sexual health and associated issues as well as details of how to access local services. NHS Lanarkshire operate a number of drop in clinics across Lanarkshire specifically for young people up to the age of 20 to access. If you have any symptoms you are worried about and would like to talk to someone, you can contact the appointment line.                        Tel: 0845 618 7191 (Line open Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.)

Services offered differ from clinic to clinic but all offer:

  • Information/advice on all sexual health issues
  • STI screening
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Contraception
  • Referral to other services (e.g. smoking cessation)
  • Free Condoms

Confidentiality – The service is confidential, however if you are under 16 years of age and share some information which may place you or someone else in danger staff have to share the information disclosed with other agencies. A full explanation of the policy is displayed at all the young person clinics.

The Lanarkshire Blood Borne Viruses Network has launched a new website for hepatitis and HIV.The website focused on HIV, hepatitis B & C and offers online learning tools with the aim of helping to educate and support those affected by the viruses, whilst also preventing new cases from arising. 

The website also informs people of training and education opportunities and showcases the many different areas of work and projects taking place across Lanarkshire. In addition, the website has a dedicated section for health and social care professionals the easy access to the clinical information they need to work more effectively with service users, patients and carers. This information may also be of interest to patients, carers and the general publicprofessionals.
